Welcome to The Developing Apologist
I’m so glad you’re here! My name is James Jackson, and I have a deep passion for learning and sharing what I’ve discovered with others. This love for learning has driven me to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a Master’s in Healthcare and Human Service Administration, and a Master’s in Theological Studies with a concentration in Apologetics. At one point, I was pursuing a Master of Divinity but chose to pause those studies to focus on my family and service in my local church.
A Little About Me
I am a Christian, first and foremost—a child of God. Starting a blog on Christian Apologetics wouldn’t make much sense otherwise! I’m also a husband and father. My wife, Crystal, and I have been married over 18 years. God has blessed us with two amazing teenage daughters who keep us busy and fulfilled. One is passionate about music and art, while the other loves softball and books. As a Christian man, I strive to be the spiritual leader of my family—a role that has been both challenging and transformative. I look forward to sharing more about this journey in future blog posts.
My Professional Journey
I’ve been in the software industry for over 17 years, working for five different companies along the way. Currently, I serve as a DevOps Architect consultant. In this position, I help organizations embrace DevOps practices, streamline their workflows, and enhance the developer experience by migrating and automating processes within Azure DevOps or GitHub. This role allows me to combine my technical expertise and passion for innovation to create impactful solutions for my clients.
Why The Developing Apologist?
The idea to start this blog has been on my heart for a long time. I initially attempted to launch a Christian blog back in 2014, but the timing wasn’t right. At that point, I was a relatively new Christian—the only believer in my household—and I felt I lacked the experience and readiness to take on such a project.
Fast forward nine years, and the calling to start this blog resurfaced. For months, I hesitated, but the message became undeniable during a Sunday School class where our teacher spoke about living out God’s calling. This came shortly after our pastor challenged us to place our “yes” on the table for whatever God calls us to do. After much prayer and a heartfelt conversation with my wife, The Developing Apologist was born.
What The Developing Apologist Represents
This blog brings together two significant parts of my identity: my work as a software developer and my passion for apologetics. While I hold a degree in apologetics, I’m still growing in this area and haven’t quite embraced calling myself an “apologist.” That’s why I see myself as a developing apologist—someone committed to continually learning and refining their skills and knowledge in defending the Christian faith.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I look forward to exploring, learning, and growing with you as we dive into the rich world of Christian Apologetics together.
God bless,
James Jackson
